The State of Ohio built Ohio House at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition to showcase the state's industrial capability and natural resources. As the only state building left from the Centennial, the Ohio House has a storied history for all World Fair lovers. Recently it has been converted into a lovely, convenient meeting place for business people those just looking to get away for a bite to eat.

The wedding is over and I can finally take a moment to tell you what a wonderful time was had by all at Shelley's bridal shower at the Centenial Cafe on February 9, 2008. The venue was just magical. I must confess that this is the first time I put total trust in any vendor, and I must say you made my daughter's shower a most memorable event. I was not disappointed. You provided an event that our friends are still talking about. The decorations which captured my daughter's bridal colors (chocolate brown and pink) were just lovely. You truly are a person who pays close attention to details, from the quaint chocolate brown and pink table covering down to the mini brown and pink candy kisses. Please know that your staff were equally accomodating and demonstrated true customer service. I know the word is out about the good work you are doing at the Historic Ohio House. Thank you for making our event so special.

The Baby Shower we held at the Centennial Café on March 8th was a huge success. You will remember that there were torrential rains and flooding that day; our guests (soggy though they might have been) were warmly welcomed by your staff. The service throughout our event was exemplary. Our guests raved about the quiches, the fruit salad, the croissants and desserts and in fact all that you served that day. The room was set up with Victorian style furnishings. The coziness of the space made it easy for everyone to visit with each other while watching the gifts being opened. The location of the Ohio House made it easily accessible to our guests from Philadelphia as well as from outside the area. Many of our guests were curious about the history of the Ohio house, so they enjoyed looking at the old photos and newspaper documentation. I would recommend the Centennial Café at the Ohio House as a great location for showers, luncheons, brunches or any type of get together for a group that would comfortably fit in that space. We had 30 guests. Thank you once again Doree for helping us with this memorable event.

Sincerely yours,

Thank you for allowing us to host our fundraiser at the Centennial Café. We could not be more pleased with your service from our first phone call to the departure of the last guest. We are grateful to you and your staff who treated us with the utmost care and consideration. You were very attentive to our guests with their questions and concerns and especially helpful in offering cold beverages to cope with the rising temperatures. The food was delicious and the desserts spoiled us. Nothing was too much trouble. What we are most delighted about is that our guests had the opportunity to witness the beauty and history of the Ohio House, situated right in the heart of Fairmount Park. Most were not aware that the Centennial Cafe existed, but now I am certain that many of them will return. Thanks for helping make this event possible. It was an absolute pleasure working with you and we hope to do it again in the near future.

My oldest daughter is getting married and I had her bridal shower at The Centennial Café at the Ohio House. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful the experience was. The staff managed by Doree Vereen were so friendly, kind and professional. Doree helped me with every detail, from food selection, decorations, desserts and just made me feel that she truly wanted to make my daughter’s day special. It is rare to go to an establishment and feel that the manager cares. In living in a large Metropolitan area you can easily feel overwhelmed when you need to have an affair. Some places make you feel like the only thing that matters is money. When I went to The Centennial House it was not that way. Not only did Doree Vereen put all her experience into making our day so spectacular but she made us feel that she cared; she made us feel at home. When our event was over, on the way home I cried because she made us feel so special. It is only to our benefit that she is at The Centennial House, all who can should visit and dine there.

Sincerely,
Alflora Gordon and Saffiyah Gordon Marshall
